Meet Our Facilitators:

Peter Reynolds – CEO at NZDSN will be sharing Ministerial and Funding updates in the Opening Remarks and contributing to our collective discussions.

Dr Hemant Thakkar - Service Improvement Manager at Te Roopu Taurima, which is the largest Kaupapa Māori Disability Support Service in NZ serving tāngata with intellectual impairments or mental illness. They provide residential and vocational support, out-of-family respite care, high and complex needs support, and choices in community living. Hemant is a registered social worker with three decades of experience in the disability sector and has worked in the areas of special education, consumer rights, systemic advocacy, quality and risk management and disability service provision.  

Michelle Creighton – CE of Rescare Homes Trust, which is a residential community where people who have an intellectual disability are supported to create great lives for themselves. Michelle Creighton’s business career includes more than 30 years’ experience in business finance, governance, and general management in privately held companies headquartered in New Zealand and overseas.

Silke Carter Manager at A Supported Life with over 30 years’ experience in the disability sector; managing contracts, designing services with key focus on individual service design and leading organisation. For the past twelve-months Silke has been working at ‘A Supported Life’, managing financial aspects and supporting the leadership team.

Plus, we are aiming to confirm representatives from MSD and Whaikaha to join us.

We will share updates as things progress in the next month.
